A small set of renovation calculators built to answer one question: roughly what will this cost, before you pick up the phone.
HomeProjectsCost runs four calculators, whole-home remodel, kitchen, bathroom, and roof replacement, plus a state-by-state reference table and a handful of budgeting guides. Every tool runs entirely in your browser.
Each calculator starts from a documented rate or scope tier rather than a guess: a per-square-foot figure for the whole-home tool, cosmetic-to-full-gut tiers for kitchen and bathroom, and a pitch-adjusted material rate for roofing. Those figures come from published remodeling cost data and regional wage benchmarks, reviewed at least annually. Full sourcing detail lives on the editorial standards page.
The site is run independently by Chris Terry, with Jessica Martinez writing most of the guides. Nothing typed into a calculator field is stored, uploaded, or sold; the numbers exist only in your browser tab while you use them. A handful of links on guide pages are affiliate links that may earn a small commission, which does not change which figures we publish.
Who actually writes this? Two people. See the authors page for both bios.
Can I use these numbers as a bid? No. They are budgeting estimates for planning purposes, not a substitute for a written quote from a licensed contractor who has seen your project.
